Trent had another lesson for his deaf group at church. His goal was to invite all the Deaf in the state who could come to present the plan of salvation in a unique way relative to Deaf culture. Such an undertaking required a lot of help! Before church he was able to enlist Sister Black, the Relief Society president, Catherine Fonua, his assistant, Saylor Adams, a co-interpreter, the Sister missionaries, and of course, his own kids.
They started in the classroom where they watched the ASL Book of Mormon as a pre-earth life holding area. They were given instructions about the next section of the activity. They needed to go to certain stations to get certain "tokens" or requirements. They needed to avoid other stations that served as distractions (a Wii game). Then they needed to present their tokens to the keeper of the "gate," who then gave them a necklace with a torch representing baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. That allowed them entrance into the celestial kingdom where ice cream sundaes were waiting for them on the other side of a projected picture of a temple as the reward for making it to the celestial kingdom. Above they are assembling the tokens.
Here is the "veil" each person had to pass through.
On the other side of the projected image is the ice cream sundae station, although here they are finishing up the lesson. The lesson was well attended and very successful. Of course, after church there was a luncheon for unity and fellowship.
