Applesauce Factory

Twas the day before Thanksgiving and because we are little crazy we decided to have our "applesauce factory" in full swing that day. I don't need to tell you that we did not host Thanksgiving at our place this year. We had relatively simple food assignments for the next day so we decided to take advantage of a great apple sale, Trent having the day off, and good weather and get the job done. We started with 4 bushel boxes of apples. Trent decided that the most time consuming part was peeling off every sticker on every apple:

Since we were already up to our elbows in apples, I got busy making pies.

The weather was lovely and cool and we had the entire setup in the yard. Our neighbor was so generous to lend us everything we needed. Even this great propane stove that made the job so much faster. And I LOVED not having all that stickiness in my house this year!

Happy little applesauce maker:

It does take a lot of concentration:

All tuckered out from a morning of sauce-making: (no he is not nursing, just cuddled up in Mommy's arms as sweet as can be)

The set-up:It was an all day job but we ended with 40 lovely jars of delicious applesauce that will be a great asset to our food storage all year long!

(Just a little bit of monkey business in the empty apple boxes)
