This is just a random assortment of pictures capturing our summer days. It's hard to believe it's coming to a close and fall is on its way.
The farmers behind us planted some kind of early wheat. It grew fast and was beautiful to look at.
And gorgeous when it was mature too!
Our garden beginning to fill in.
The kids hanging out in sleeping bags on the deck. This was in the middle of the day :)
Lots of scooter and bike riding. I am very grateful we live on a quiet street.
Bedtime views. I love the way our nest looks! If you look closely you can see the trails of lightning bugs in the dark.
This is NOT very picturesque but it is something to document. One morning we noticed a live bat was stuck on our shutter outside our living room. It struggled and struggled to get free- to no avail! Trent even tried loosening the shutter a bit but it wouldn't get away. So it died there. Then two weeks later, I noticed another bat, stuck in the very same way right next to it. So weird and yucky.
Enjoying the first of our harvest. I love Matthew's face in this picture as he tries to hold onto that squash!
Yes, please!
Plenty of rainy afternoons this summer.
We LOVED watching the combine harvest the wheat. Can you see it on the left?
Matthew loves drinking from Daddy's water bottle when he gets home from work.
Every morning starts out with this little boy and a banana. He ALWAYS asks for a banana as soon as he wakes up.
Heidi and Nathan spend a few solid days working on this dirt area under the back deck. They were building a house and were super thrilled with the whole plan. They would even get up early to get back "to work". It was really fun to watch and listen to them.
Trent and I were very impressed by their ideal of "laying tile" with the little white rocks. We think they did a pretty good job!
This little boy will probably have memories of living on a banana farm while growing up in KY. We had a lot of these yellow summer squash from the garden and every time we brought one inside he thought it was a big banana!
My neighbor, Jill, told me her dad was getting rid of this train table with all the trains and tracks and asked if we wanted it. It was such a generous gift and the kids have just loved playing with it so far!
More rain!
Our ward did a fun Pioneer Day party. We had a yummy potluck dinner and then played pioneer games. Heidi and Nathan enjoyed the stick pull.
Nathan doing dishes with a lot of help. He is a VERY patient and kind older brother.
We were surprised to look out the back deck and see this utility truck in the field. They gave all the trees "haircuts" before ice storms come this winter and knock limbs onto the power lines.
It has been a wonderful summer. I've really enjoyed a more relaxed schedule and being able to enjoy being together!
