And today it rained

Well folks, I've been waiting patiently for my first big desert monsoon storm. Every evening we get big dark thunder clouds and sometimes lightning but before tonight- NO rain. It was really a tease for me. If you know me well enough, you know I really enjoy a good storm and some variety when it comes to the weather. So, the hot after hot day is a bit taxing for me.
So tonight, about 8 PM, we had the most glorious rain storm. In fact, it is still continuing outside my window. It is so relaxing to me. It REALLY rained and blew and the lightning was gorgeous. It was so nice to see the ground wet and to smell rain. (by the way, the desert does smell different in the rain...still good, just different) We all went out on the front porch to watch. Heidi even got to stay up and watch. She loved the lightning and learned the word and sign for rain.
So, it's kinda nice knowing this new home of mine can produce something other than beautiful sunshine.

I could actually SMELL that desert monsoon storm you just described! We used to take the lounge chairs out to the front porch to watch those storms...oh, the memories!
Go for a swim for me!

I am always waiting for rain. There's something in the gray clouds that nourishes me. A cloudy day always makes me happy and usually a little pensive. There is a kind of cozy that can only be produced by the sounds, smells, and feel of rain.
