There are so many details to the joy we have witnessed watching Heidi experience her first memorable Christmas! I'll post more stories later, but I wanted to quickly record a cute incident from tonight.
Trent was tired of studying the liver so he suggested we go on a walk--something we do often around our new community. Despite the pungent smell of dairy a few miles away from us we enjoy the briskness and freedom of getting out of our house without melting. Heidi loves the ride in the stroller. Lately that love has turned into eager anticipation because she knows Christmas lights are out--and boy are they "prity."
Tonight we walked down a street of 1-acre lot, custom homes that have around the corner from our development. We have walked down this road many times and Heidi has learned to anticipate "San-ta" at one house and "Bu lites" (blue lights) at another.
Our walk was short, but nice.
As Trent and I sat on the couch waiting for a ward member to drop something off, Heidi found our cordless telephone and began her now-usual gibberish conversation with some mysterious friend. Something caught our attention, however. Heidi would push a few buttons (to make the phone beep) and then talk to Grandma. And it wasn't just random sounds (that honestly sound like a second grader "trying" to speak Chinese when she knows very well she has no clue what she's saying--but she's making sounds). Heidi was having a full-on conversation with Grandma about a "Walk" in the "Stroller" where we saw "Lights" that were "Prrrity!"
It was a bonafide conversation with Grandma that was more than her usual bursts.
We'll let each grandmother decide who was getting the phone call. :)

Heidi is so cute! How fun! I'm sad that she's growing up, and we're not really there to see it! Keep posting the cute things she does, though, so we can laugh with you! Sure love you guys!
Cute!!! It's crazy the little thing they do that surprise you.
