Happenings

Oh, we have a had a busy few weeks. And I would be remiss if I didn't jot it down here to remember.

Can you just feel the cool, breezy evening air in this picture?
We have a nearby airport and we all seem to enjoy a visit to the airport as an evening family activity every now and then. A couple weeks ago we were lucky enough to be there right when a fighter jet was revving up and taking off. We suggested that the kids cover their ears and so...
they did. Nathan walked around the rest of the time like this.

Last weekend we were SO lucky to have cousin visitors. My sister Beth drove down with 3 of her 4 kids and her friend and stayed for the weekend. It was really, really fun to have them here. The kids really enjoyed playing together. Cousin-bonding time is priceless, isn't it?

We had a fun time visiting a local farm while they were here. They had a fun playground there with this little train:

And a fun petting farm. They loved the baby goats. Well, actually Heidi was PETRIFIED of them at first. But after a few minutes in there with them she couldn't resist their cuteness any longer and gave in and relaxed and enjoyed them. Who knew her mother raised goats many moons ago?! She acted like a real city girl in that pen. We better do something to remedy that.
Mina was so nice to hold Nathan and the baby goat:

Gorgeous sky over their u-pick garden:

Fun train ride. I think the sun may have been getting to Clayton by this point? Cute boy:
This visit was even more valuable because they visited right in the middle of Trent's 2-week trip away. It really broke up the time. Thank you for making the long trip to see us!!!!!!!

We sure did miss Daddy while he was away. Things just aren't the same without him hear to keep us grounded. But, we managed and stayed very busy with life.
Heidi was just thrilled to have a sleepover in my bed one night:

As we turned off the lights and got all snuggled in she said SO excited, "Oh, Mom! Can we just chat for awhile?!" So of course we did. It might have been for more than a while. Eventually she got tired and requested that we snuggle real close and go to sleep.

Trent was off having his own adventures. He got to participate in two externships at some oral surgery programs. And just to let me feel involved and like I knew what he was up to he'd send me lots of pictures like this one:
He was more than thrilled to learn to remove these tumors. And I tried to keep my stomach stable and not have to lay my head on the desk while looking at the more gruesome pictures.

Here he is scrubbed in in the OR. He is the one in the green hat on the left:
And got a little site-seeing in on the side. Nobody to take his picture by the Mississippi River so I was happy he got a picture of his foot on the bank:
One of his stops was the Memphis, TN temple:
And then home again. To find that our orange tree had blossomed while he was away. Can you smell the blossoms?

Ok, many comments for this post: 1. What farm did you visit? Looks fun! 2. Hannah totally would have covered her ears like that the whole time too! 3. Love the pic of you and Heidi. And I can totally hear her voice asking to chat. 4. That head was gross! You'll have to tell me more about why an oral surgeon would be removing those. 5. The smell of orange blossoms is my favorite spring smell.

Glad you had a fun time, despite Trent being gone (doing gross stuff, j/k)...but I'm glad he's home.
