Thanksgiving

To say we looked forward to Thanksgiving this year would be an understatement. We felt so excited to have a house full of family to help us celebrate. Trent's parents drove up from Atlanta on Thanksgiving day and had dinner with us and spent the night before heading onto Nashville. Ben, Christine, and Sammy drove down from Ohio on Wednesday and were with us until Sunday. We LOVE having family with us.
Food preparation is very fun when you have relatives in the kitchen. Grammy, Daddy, and Nathan made dinner rolls. Even turning some into cute pumpkin shapes.
Uncle Ben made his traditional platter of ham roll-ups. Doesn't get much more traditional than that.
Heidi and Nathan had each made a Thanksgiving headpiece at school that week and sported them throughout the day. Heidi discovered my Marguerite Henry books and enjoyed reading Seastar that day, especially cuddling on the couch with Grammy.

Nathan and Heidi sat at our little table and Nathan set it all on his own. He got a "tablecloth" and decorations without me asking.

Luckily it was cold enough to use the back deck as refrigerator overflow parking.
We were surprised to look out our back kitchen window and see three hunters with rifles over their shoulders walking on the other side of our fence. Ummm...we live in a a subdivision?? Sure it's a farm behind us but we are definitely in an established neighborhood and this isn't a common sight. When they noticed we were all staring at them they just waved and gave us friendly smiles.

Matthew likes to explore EVERYTHING when he knows Mommy is busy in the kitchen.

A welcome diversion with Grandpa Chuck

Nathan had made stuffing at preschool for his Thanksgiving feast and was very excited to show off his skills for our dinner. Uncle Ben was his trusty assistant.

Heidi's assignment were these adorable oreo turkeys. She did great all by herself and this just may become a traditional food on our Thanksgiving table.

Ready to feast!

Nathan and Grandpa both got the drumsticks (equal in size). Nathan couldn't finish his so he wrapped it in foil and finished it over the next few days. I think we have a new drumstick king in the house!

After filling ourselves to the brim and then some we all got really lazing and enjoyed hanging out in the living room. Some watched some Duck Dynasty while some scouted out ads for the Black Friday sales. You can tell we were all incredibly interactive!

The kids needed no persuading to have a Thanksgiving Day sleepover while Grammy and Grandpa slept in their room.
We were SO grateful to spend the holiday surrounded with our family we love so much. It made is so cozy and wonderful!
