We had a busy Christmas season and enjoyed some festive performances from the kids.
Heidi had her dance recital and they did a cute tap number. Heidi on the right, her friend Lily on the left.
Heidi's school put on a wonderful Christmas program on the last day of school before the break. All the grades sang their songs they'd been working on as well as a few combined pieces. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of her little group singing as they discouraged flash photography. Her school meets at a Baptist church and this was held in the chapel.
Our piano/violin recital at the rest home got rescheduled for another week and Heidi played her songs she had been working on (oops no pictures!) I had worked hard to find a place for our recital where the piano was decent and in tune and the coordinator at the rest home had assured me this was the place. It turned out to be QUITE the painful experience for me as the violin teacher. I was horrified to sit down at the piano to tune my students instruments to find that the piano was terribly flat. This did not lend itself to a good way to showcase the hard work of my students and that was frustrating. Luckily, the residents didn't seem to mind either way and they loved the kids playing their music for them.
Our area does a big bi-stake Nativity Festival and Heidi and Nathan, along with their friends Aliya and Tyson, prepared a musical number for the concert that night. I was SO proud of their preparation and bravery. The entire chapel and cultural hall were full and they stood up and bravely sang their little hearts out!
I got to sing in the adult choir during the concert that night and had so much fun participating in it. We practiced for each Sunday night for a few months prior to the performance and it was such a treat to have a musical and spiritual recharge each week and made my Christmas season more meaningful.
